Bedford Bicycle Advisory Committee
(approved 2004 August 11)
July 14, 2004
Present: Bob Sawyer, Charlie Webster, Bob Evans, Joel Parks, Holly Webster, and Ralph Hammond
7:30 pm. Approval was made of the June minutes after Joel made several corrections.
(The agenda has been shortened due to the absence of Ray Ruetenik.)
Continuing:
- Police report - There were no accidents reported during the month of June,
reported Bob Sawyer.
- Sidewalk passability –We could perform a survey, or write publicity letters.
Rich Warrington said that the brush hog is rented by the week and may not get
the job done. We decided to take an in-committee survey. Anyone interested
should work on identifying any problem areas and let Joel know via e-mail
before our next meeting.
- Bedford bike tour – Bob Evans showed us the proposal that he had sent to
Mark Siegenthaler. Tour 1 will be Sat. 14 Aug. 9:30am with a rain date of
Aug 21. Tour 2 will be Sat. 25 Sept. 9:30am with a rain date of Oct. 2.
His proposal also included a waiver for all participants and one for minors.
We are awaiting Mark’s response to Bob’s proposal.
New:
- For the month of October only, the meeting will be Oct. 6 rather than
Oct. 13. (Reason: "Bedford Families Unplugged" event see

and search for "unplugged")
Next meeting -- August 11, 7:30pm, Town Hall

Bedford Friends of the Minuteman Bikeway
Continuing:
- Joel presented, before the meeting, $18 shirts, a small mug for $11.50,
a large mug for $12.50, a bag for $13.50 and a bumper sticker for $3.50.

- MM bikeway extension –Bob Sawyer passed around photos of some bike trails,
Depot Park, and various share the road signs. Some of these photos could be
part of our proposal. Joel wants to send applications to the CPC as well as
Bikes Belong. Joel will work with Sandra Hackman before the next meeting to
finalize the proposal to the CPC. The CPC needs the proposal before their
next meeting. Eric Dilg of the Bikeway Source has agreed to write a letter
of support to accompany the proposal and Joel will try to get it from him.
Bob Sawyer wants the proposal to state the purpose of the study is to
determine the best surface for the extension and the cost per foot.
