It was noted that Dan Driscoll gave a noteworthy presentation at a recent BFRT meeting, including a master plan for the activity, which received much discussion.
-
Regarding presentation of the Minuteman Extension (MMX) project, it was the sense of the committee that it is critical to get the full Board of Selectmen in support of the extension. To that end, Terry gave an excellent video presentation he has been working on. It showed the heavy use the paved trail during the spring and essentially zero use of the unpaved portion then. Terry plans to continue developing the presentation, aiming at a five minute duration.
-
Bob noted the task the DPW was working on relative to shopping in Bedford with a bicycle. He will check into the status of that. The length of all the trails in Bedford is being determined by the DPW. The great number of these trails was noted. Bob noted the extensive DPW activity with regard to the Washington street bridge to the Middle School.
-
Discussion ensued regarding a bike-to-school program. Groups that might be interested in supporting such an activity was discussed. Ralph noted the stringent responsibility requirement regarding safety mandated by the State. Groups that might be enlisted to support a bike-too-school program was discussed. Ralph will approach the school system, school by school, to seek interest in such a program. Benefits of biking to school were cited. Ralph will identify routes to schools.
-
Bob noted that the Police Dept. report on accidents involving bicycles will be available the day following this meeting.
-
Bob took comments on the brochures submitted by Marcia Bushnell for the MMX. The committee members were very supportive of what she presented and noted suggestions, Bob will convey them to her.
-
Bob noted that Lexington has been repairing root damage in the MM.
Meeting adjourned 9:20pm.

Ray noted that 70 children and youth participated in the Police Bicycle Safety Clinic, tying the previous record, and that ice cream vouchers to Bedford Farms were distributed to all but three. It was agreed that the helmet distribution went much smoother this year, although concern was expressed regarding the permanence of the adjustments.
-
The subject of paying for a tent area in the PMC event was discussed. It was agreed that the question should be raised another year.
