Sept. 10, 2008 8:15pm, Town Hall, Bedford, MA
Present: Mark Siegenthaler, Terry Gleason, Joel Parks, Brian O'Donnell, Ralph Hammond, Charlie Webster, and Holly Webster
Meeting to discuss Bike/Walk to school was held in the Bedford Police Station at 7:pm tonight as well which says why our meeting didn't start at the usual time. Holly arrived first, and Mark arrived shortly thereafter.

When asked about the Transportation Committee, Mark told us that the Volunteer Committee had been slow about replacing members on the Energy Committee, which has now been filled, and then the Conservation Preservation Committee, and now they will be interviewing folks who volunteered beyond that. So far the Transportation Committee has not been fully formed and has not met. Some members may be interviewed at the next Selectmen's meeting next Monday, Sept. 15. The agenda for that meeting will be sent out on Friday. Terry will attempt to get copies of that agenda and also the report from VHB on the alternative surface for the extended Minuteman Bikeway.
-
Terry, Mark, and Rich Warrington will work on the advertising and getting the word out about the "Rails-to-Trails" celebration taking place on Oct. 5. Our committee was lax about talking to the appropriate officials in Bedford about this event. We will let them know that it will be taking place across the street from Depot Park. Ralph has spoken with Bedford Farms and the ice cream giveaway will be allowed, and take place. Terry will e-mail Mark about recognizing Bob Sawyer and Ray Ruetenik.
-
The special Town Meeting will be Nov. 10 and the CPA proposal, is on that agenda. Terry will call the CPC to see if we have lost the window for application.
-
Joel will do the set-up for Bedford Day, Sept. 20 and also the set-ups for the free bicycle parking at the "Three Apples Storytelling Festival", Sept 27 from 8:30am until 5:30pm.
-
Bike to Church Day will also be Oct. 5. Terry will let the other churches know and will email Holly Webster the information immediately for inclusion in the Congregational Church newsletter.
-
The International Walk to School Day will be Oct. 8. Terry may lead a group from his neighborhood to school that day.
-
Holly reported, as Bob is temporarily laid up, that there were no accidents involving bicycles in August.
-
Ralph changed our November meeting to Thursday, Nov. 13 because Nov. 12 is Bedford "Unplugged" day and no meetings will be allowed that day.
New:
Our next meeting will be Oct. 8, Town Hall, 7:30pm.
Meeting adjourned 9:10pm
