Just imagine your personal Certified Wellness Coach dedicated to helping you achieve your goals. It's not unusual that before making an important investment decision, such as purchasing a car, a washing machine or television, we hastily research the internet, intensely read magazines, and so on. Yet, when it comes to our most important investment— our health, we do little or nothing.

Wellness coaching can be the cornerstone of your investment strategy — to identify the health risks and work to develop a lifestyle management plan (for your personal portfolio).

Behavioral scientists have shown that one-on-one coaching is among the most effective approaches to helping people make and sustain improvements in their lives. A coach enables change by focusing on a client's stated needs, values, vision, and goals and helping to bring out their personal best.

Having a coach is particularly powerful when a client has decided to fully commit to making significant behavioral changes. Together we'll identify and pursue your personal vision for wellness and identify priorities in one or more areas including fitness, weight, nutrition, stress management, and health. We will also discuss the principles that are important for you to be successful in developing a healthier lifestyle.

By reducing your risk factors and focusing on your goals, your personal portfolio will grow and pay dividends of a happier, healthier, and more productive life.

The Wellness Coaching Process
The process of wellness coaching progresses through several stages:
  1. Clients provide background information through a comprehensive online questionnaire and during the first coaching session, so that their coaches are well-informed on the key issues, including medical limitations.
  2. During the first 90-minute coaching session, clients and coaches commit orally to a three-month coaching program. Clients confirm that they are ready to make changes and discuss a personal wellness vision, three month priorities and realistic goals. Clients also define and commit to 3-5 goals, or small steps toward the three-month goals, for the following week.
  3. In each subsequent 30-40 minute coaching session, each week or as needed, coaches and clients review the progress towards the last week's goals, learn something new or develop a solution to overcome an obstacle, and then agree on a set of goals for the following week.
  4. After a few weeks of coaching sessions, clients begin to notice improvements in how they feel and look, and their motivation to continue efforts to change increases.
  5. Sometimes in the second and third months, clients hit one or more obstacles. Both coaches and clients work hard to find solutions to overcome each obstacle to reach the goal of establishing new lifestyle behaviors.
  6. By the end of three months, clients typically reach more than 70% of their three-month goals and are energized and confident to commit to changing new areas.
Examples of Personal Wellness Visions
  • My wellness vision in the next six months is to stop gaining weight and start losing weight so that I can look better, feel younger, and wear the clothes I want to wear.
  • My wellness vision in the next year is to improve my health, in particular reduce my cholesterol, to lower my risk of heart disease.
  • My wellness vision in the next two years is to lose weight and gain control of my diabetes.
  • My wellness vision in the next year is to reduce my chronically high level of stress so that it doesn't damage my health in the long term.
  • My wellness vision in the next six months is to establish regular exercise so that I can delay aging and preserve my ability to function well in my older years.
  • My wellness vision is to lose and maintain ten pounds so that I can look good in a bathing suit when I'm 40.
  • My wellness vision is to establish healthy eating habits so that I can set a good example for my children.
  • My wellness vision is to improve my strength and stamina so that I can play with my grandchildren.
  • My wellness vision is to take charge of my health and feel greater self-esteem, and wellbeing.
Examples of Wellness Goals
  • Lose excess pounds without feeling deprived
  • Increase strength and definition of your upper and/or lower body
  • Start an exercise or strength-training program at home
  • Identify an aerobic exercise that you can fit into your life on a regular basis
  • Implement an exercise routine that you can do at work or while traveling
  • Change your diet so that you have more energy in the morning or afternoon
  • Decrease your body fat
  • Decrease your stress level through relaxation activities
  • Decrease your cholesterol, blood sugar, or blood pressure levels
  • Achieve weight goals while eating in restaurants, or during holiday periods
  • Increase your mental productivity during the workday
  • Have more physical energy for activities you want to do
  • Look and feel more youthful and vigorous
  • Feel better day to day
